Welcome to those who joined in with us this past Sunday to read through the New Testament this year. Remember, you don’t have to catch up all at once! A little each day and using the 2 free days a week and you’ll be caught up in no time! God’s Word has power! You’ll be glad you did this!

Discovering Life at Journey North

January 25th, 2015 by WebPastor

CLASS 101

CLASS 101 is the best way to find out everything you ever wanted to know about Journey North Church. It also happens to be necessary if you want to become a member. You can take the class and not become a member, you just can’t become a member without taking the class… does that make sense?

We’re going to have a CLASS 101 on Sunday, February 8, from 1-5pm. So sign up ahead of time, go grab lunch after church that day, come back for the class (snacks provided), and discover what life at Journey North Church is all about.

If you’re planning on attending, please remember to sign up so that we have an accurate number for materials, seating and snacks! Remember that there is no childcare provided so if that’s a need you have, we’re asking you to make arrangements with a sitter or another family or something. And maybe you’re called to help by volunteering to sit for the kids of someone God lays on your heart (at your home or theirs). Great opportunity for service!

Let me know if you have any questions.

Week 3… you can still jump in!

January 19th, 2015 by WebPastor

textI know it’s hard to believe, but we’re already in week 3 of our year and of our reading through the New Testament together. If you haven’t started it’s not too late! Catching up is still easy to do. You don’t have to catch up all at once. Just a little at a time. Remember, you’re only reading 5 days a week and only one chapter a day so with a little extra effort you can be on track with us! We’d love to have you on this journey with us.

Commitment

January 19th, 2015 by WebPastor

text

As it says in our By-Laws, “Membership is a one-year commitment. Every year, members who are actively serving at Journey North may renew their membership.”

That means that this is the time that all current members who want to renew their membership may do so. What this entails is agreeing to the Statement of Faith and the Membership Covenant and recommitting by signing the membership list. There will be a copy of the Statement of Faith and the Membership Covenant for you to look at again and a membership list with your name on it in the corner room with the glass where the hallway starts. If you are in agreement and commit to the responsibilities again, sign your name on the line next to your printed name.

We’re planning on having our annual meeting in February. Anyone may attend but only current members may vote. At that meeting we’ll vote on the budget and the Legal Trustees. The three Legal Trustees who served in 2014 were Cami Babolik, Dean Madison, and Beverly Sutherland. They have agreed to serve for 2015 and will be on the ballot along with a new addition we’re very excited about: Brad Turgeon. These 4 names will be on the ballot… NOT running against each other, but as the 4 Legal Trustees being recommended.

By the way, if you’ve taken CLASS 101 and not completed the process to become a member, now would be a great time to do that!

And there’s a CLASS 101 coming up soon if you haven’t yet taken it and want to. That date will be announced very soon. Keep watching.

Join up, catch up, keep up

January 12th, 2015 by WebPastor

text So… how are you doing so far? One chapter a day + 5 days a week = through the New Testament in a year. If you started with us at the beginning, great… praying we keep up. If you’re a little behind, there’s plenty of time to catch up. If you would like to join us, we’d be thrilled to have you along for the ride! It’s not too late to start now! Some of the chapters are shorter than others and it’s only 5 days a week, allowing time to get up to speed. It can be a huge part of making this year your best year ever!

God loves to see you begin!

January 5th, 2015 by WebPastor

text The overwhelming majority of us are going to be reading through the New Testament together this year as we announced on Sunday. The adults are doing it. Our students are doing it. Our Celebrate Recovery family is doing it! Today’s the day to start. One chapter a day, five days a week. That gives you two days to mediate, read something over, or catch up! Join us! You’ll be glad you did. Remember, the power to change requires God’s Spirit, God’s Word, and God’s people. So as God’s people, let’s get into His Word together and let His Spirit guide us! “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin…”
Zech 4:10 NLT

Here’s a link to our reading checklist we had available. I’ll keep a link on the sidebar under “Some Links…” as well.

Play-Doh

January 4th, 2015 by WebPastor

text

We had a great time today at Journey North Church. This basket pictured contains what’s left of our Play-Doh. We gave about 350 cans of Play-Doh out today as a take-away reminder. I could tell you what we talked about if you missed it, but instead I’m going to post the video clip we showed and let you listen on the Sermons page or on iTunes for yourself to the sermon. Don’t forget to pick your one thing!

The crew is really moving out this morning! The floor in the old laundromat is almost all out. It looks like 3 skid-steers dancing in there! Or like a skid-steer precision driving show! Amazing drivers and amazing volunteers!! A huge thank you to all!
