We met out on the church land this past Sunday for an outdoor service. Those of you who braved the ominous looking weather and came out will no doubt remember that service for awhile! Great fellowship, great time worshiping together through music, short sermon (not recorded… remember when you miss a Sunday, you miss a lot!), and during the closing song we got to watch hundreds of people making a mad dash for their cars as the rain began! Hopefully none of you got too wet! I also got to witness a large group of servants put away or cover the necessary things and then huddle under tents and in trailers until the rain passed so they could take things down! What a great visual illustration of the message! Thank you Journey North Church! I love you!
This Sunday, weather permitting, we’re having ONE service outdoors on the church land at 10:30. It’s located about 2.75 miles north on Main Street of the current location. That’s about a mile north of country road 11 (McDonalds road) on Main Street. Here’s a link to a map if you need it.
Setup for our annual outdoor VBS on the church land will be underway, so we always take advantage of that and have an outdoor service. VBS starts Sunday evening and runs through Wednesday from 5:30-8:30 so make sure your kids are registered because it will be a great time!
We’ll worship together outdoors, have a message from God’s Word and, as always, a great time of fellowship together.
So bring a lawn chair or blanket and join us for our outdoor service at 10:30 this Sunday on the church land. In case of inclement weather, we’ll go back to TWO services, 9 and 10:30, at 840 Main Street South. We’ll be watching the weather and if we do need to cancel, we’ll announce it on the website, Facebook, Twitter, and have it on the answering machine at the church office. So stay tuned… and pray for good weather because the outdoor services are always a blast!

Our volunteer of the week is Melanie Hedberg! Have you ever felt loved and welcomed when you came into Journey North? Then you may have been greeted by Melanie! Melanie not only volunteers at the welcome desk but she supports and encourages the women of JNC by attending bridal and baby showers. She is constantly thinking of creative ways to support other ministries as well. Melanie’s positive attitude and love for people make her an exceptional volunteer and friend!
Casey Tyberg has been a vital team member of the kid’s ministry since the very beginning. She schedules, organizes curriculum and oversees the Lil’ Venture ministry. Casey also leads the crafts for VBS and as you will see in a couple weeks, they are amazing! On top of children’s ministry, Casey also leads a ladies small group. Thank you for your willingness to do whatever it takes to make an impact on the lives of the kids at Journey North Church!
Sara and Levi welcomed Elijah Scott Dopp into the world at 2:58 this morning! He’s a healthy, beautiful boy at 6 lbs 13 oz.
We’re so excited to spend the week with these guys at Shamineau!! We’re confident that God is going to accomplish something incredible during our time together! Please keep us in your prayers!

We are excited to announce our Volunteer of the Week, Sally Hoy. Sally has been attending JNC for several years now and almost immediately she started serving. God had laid it on Sally’s heart to start a new ministry called Journey Care. Journey Care ministers to people suffering from sickness, those recovering from surgery and those that are nearing the end of their earthly journey. This ministry touches people in their moments of need. Sally also regularly prepares and serves meals for Celebrate Recovery. And if that isn’t enough, Sally is involved in the music ministry to shut ins and those in assisted living. Sally demonstrates her great heart for God and for people in a variety of ways. We could never thank her enough for all she does.
We’re on week 24 of our NT Reading. We’re reading on a schedule of a chapter a day and 5 days a week, giving you time for reflection or catching up. If you’ve fallen behind don’t give up. Just start reading. You can catch up later. Even if you don’t, it’s not so much about the schedule… it’s about being in God’s Word on a regular basis. Go for it!
Friday, June 12 at 7:00 pm we are launching a new singles ministry for people in their 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, 50’s…. with a beach party here at Journey North Church. It should be a lot of fun! We are not going to the beach but enjoying some indoor beach fun. We realize that singles face different challenges and have unique needs. We want to provide an opportunity to make connections with other people facing the same struggles. This is not eHarmony, we leave that up to the professionals.
Along with occasional gatherings, we will be starting house2house (H2H) small groups for singles. These will be on Friday nights and will run for 6 consecutive weeks. Three of these will be home gatherings and three will be activity gatherings that alternate each Friday. Throughout the year we will start fresh. You must sign up to attend the H2H gatherings. Sign up will start at our beach party. Questions call JNC 320.629.6111
