There’s a parent meeting next Sunday, Sept 12, for parents of 7th – 12th grade students. We will meet following the second service for lunch starting at 11:45 followed by a short meeting. Bring your entire family. We will discuss the direction and plans for youth group in this upcoming year. If unable to attend please see me for the materials that will be covered. This year we will be trying out something new and different. Labor Day weekend we will turn the church property into a campground. Sounds fun doesn’t it? But you don’t have to be a camper to enjoy the festivities. We invite you to join us for the day’s events even if you don’t want to spend the night.

Saturday, Sept. 4 you are invited to come out anytime to set up your tent, trailer, motorhome or throw your sleeping bag out on the ground to sleep under the stars if you’d like. At 3:00 we will start the fun with a big game of softball, volleyball or bocce ball. You can play along or cheer from the sidelines.

For dinner we asking each family to bring a dish to share. We will provide the drinks, hot dogs and buns to do some roasting over a bonfire. Later we will do some singing around the bonfire and just relax and enjoy each others company.

We will provide breakfast the next morning and then conclude our time together with our worship service at 9:30 out at the property as well. What a fun way to close off the summer of 2010. If you are planning on attending please sign up Sunday. There will be two sign ups. One for those camping and one for those coming just for the evening. Either way we need to know numbers so we can plan accordingly.

Quick reminder, we will have a port-a-potty available but there is no running water, so bring your own water.

Who: All students in 4th-6th grade
What: Picnic and Swimming (Bring your swimsuit, a towel and suncreen, we will bring lunch)
When: Monday, August 30th, 11am – 4pm (Meet at church office)
Where: Fish Lake in Harris
Why: We will enjoy a picnic lunch and spend the afternoon having fun in the sun!!!

Remember that this Sunday is our 3rd CLASS 101 from 1 to 5 at Pine Tech. If you’re signed up, you’re good to go. If not, please call, email, or text your interest so we can get an accurate count. Three classes in such a short time with everything else going on has been a little exhausting… and A LOT worthwhile! Remember that completing CLASS 101 is not just a great way to learn a ton about Journey North Church, it’s necessary for membership. See you there!

This Sunday some of our students will be sharing through song, drama and personal testimonies their experience at Challenge 2010. God did amazing things in the lives and hearts of our youth. Join us Sunday at Pine Tech at 9:00 and 10:30.

We believe baptism is an outward picture of an inward transformation. What a thrill to celebrate as a church family with 18 people who followed Jesus in believer’s baptism. The joy was so evident. To those who through their baptism publically identified with Jesus and His church Sunday, we love you and want you to know we’re here for you!

With the crazy busy schedules of summer, don’t forget to take time out for youth group tonight. It’s going to be a blast! We are meeting at Rock Creek Community Center at 7:00. If you want a ride, meet at the office at 6:30. See you tonight!

This past Saturday, Journey North’s non-compitative softball team finished off the season at an all day tournament in Mora. Our team played well as a team, encouraging one another and building each other up despite the score at the end of the day. And after all, a person’s integrity and character is far more important than the score of a softball game which is quickly forgotten. All in all we had a great season, filled with tons of fun and lots of fond memories. Thanks guys for your dedication to the team. You guys rock!

Ladies, I have received many questions about the date for the Ladies Retreat for next spring. So here it is: March 11 – 13. We are very excited to begin our planning. Keep your eyes open for the details for the first planning meeting and mark your calendars now so you can join us for an amazing weekend together.

Our “fun in the sun day” really wasn’t very sunny, but it was really fun. We all had a blast together. It’s been great having our new 7th graders joining us. They are a wonderful group of students and will be a great addition to an already amazing group. I’m so looking forward to what God will do in and through these students.
