Friendly Reminder

July 3rd, 2009 by Julie

Friendly ReminderThis is a friendly reminder that this Sunday is the last chance to sign up for the Ladies Trip to the Governor’s Mansion on July 14th.

We need to get a list of individuals going, turned in prior to the tour. You will also need to bring a photo ID to be admitted the day of the tour.

This will be a wonderful time. You don’t want to miss out. So sign up Sunday! Don’ forget.

Mall of America

July 3rd, 2009 by Julie

Your browser doesn’t support JavaScript, you have disabled JavaScript, or you might be viewing this in a reader… it’s best to go straight to www.iloveourchurch.com… If that’s where you’re at… you may have some tech stuff to work on :(

You can really feel an energy in the air when you go to the Mall Of America. Especially when you arrive with this bunch. We had a great time Thursday afternoon taking in the sights and attractions. Can you pick out the character out of all these characters, that does not fit?

Mini Golf

July 3rd, 2009 by Julie

Mini Golf

The youth had a perfect evening for mini golf this week. And we have lots of good golfers, at least they were on the putting green. There were several shots that banked off the edge of a couple rocks and then went straight in for a hole in one. Those accidental, yet amazing shots are the ones that you pretend were intentional. We even had a lacrosse game break out at our mini golf event. When you hang out with youth long enough, you never know what will happen. The evening was topped off with root beer floats. Take a look at some pictures on our Slide Show page.

Let Freedom Ring

July 2nd, 2009 by WebPastor

Let Freedom Ring
This coming Sunday we will be back at Pine Tech for two services… one at 9 am and one at 10:30 am. Because Saturday is the 4th of July, we won’t be setting up that evening. Instead, we will setup Sunday morning at 7 am. We will need to get things unloaded, setup, plugged in and working so that the praise team can practice before the service. If you are able, we could use a little help unloading the trailer, taking things to their respective places, and general setup stuff. You’ll have fun with great people, get a little exercise, be part of a vital ministry, learn a little about what goes on behind the scenes, and have a greater appreciation for what happens every Sunday. If you’re interested, it would probably be good to let Mike know so that he can coordinate things. If you just show up, we won’t turn down your help!

We’re going to be looking at Freedom this Sunday from a couple different perspectives. You’ll be able to say with enthusiasm: “Let Freedom Ring!”

Going down to the river

July 1st, 2009 by WebPastor

Baptism

Sunday, August 23rd, there will be ONE service at 11 am. It will be outdoors (weather permitting), it will be at Paul & Kay Johnson’s beautiful riverfront home, and it will include baptizing those who wish to participate in believer’s baptism and outwardly demonstrate what the Spirit did in their life when they believed. This is always such a wonderful time together as a church. If you have not been baptized since you believed, if you have questions about it, or if you would just like to talk about it, please contact us… we would love to talk with you. We do need to talk with anyone wishing to be baptized. Taking this next step on your spiritual journey and identifying with the body of Christ in this way will be something you won’t forget. We’ve had many… adults and youth… follow Jesus in this. Let us know if you’re interested. Everyone put it on your calendar and make sure you don’t miss this one. You’ll be glad you were there!

This Sunday following the second service and take down, we will load up the van and head over to Montague’s property for some fun on the trails. After a picnic lunch, we will four wheel the trails forged out by the Montague family. If you have a four wheeler you would like to bring to the party, let us know, the more the merrier.

Labor of Love… next phase

June 30th, 2009 by WebPastor

Home Makeover

The initial inspections are done and passed thanks to some hard work on the part of a couple individuals lending a hand. Now it’s time to get our list finalized of those wanting to help with the next phase. Allow me to quote from a previous post:

Loving God… Loving people. We talk a lot about that around here. God has given us a unique opportunity to let His love flow through us. It has to do with finishing a house for an area couple so that they can have a place to live. For reasons of respect and privacy, we aren’t going to go into all the details, but I can say that we’re pretty excited to be able to help someone in the Name of Jesus. There are a number of things that need to be done and so we’re looking for Journey North People to use some of the gifts and talents they have and help out.

There will be a lot of areas to help: Picking up sheetrock (trucks and/or trailers). Loading, unloading, and carrying in sheetrock. Insulating. Possibly some sheet metal work for HVAC. Sheetrocking, taping, mudding, finishing, etc. Picking up equipment and supplies needed for project. Clean-up (picking up, vacuuming, washing windows when project complete). Preparing and/or serving meals to workers.

There will undoubtedly be other areas to help with as we get more into it as well. Probably best at this point to email or call the office with your intent to help and area(s) in which you’re willing to volunteer.

We’re so excited to be able to tangibly demonstrate the Love of God and be His hands and feet.

If you haven’t gotten on the list yet and you want to help, make sure you drop us a line or give us a call at the office (320-629-6111).

Move in this city

June 29th, 2009 by WebPastor

Robinson Park Service

We had our outdoor service at Robinson Park this past Sunday and it sure was fun! There’s something about meeting in the middle of town and praising God out in the open. We worshiped together in song and then shared a little of the vision for Journey North Church… with a skit by two of our high school students helping drive the point home.

Then at 3 pm, a number of local churches came together for Praise in the Park. What a great time praising our God together. A very fitting close to the Freedom Fest activities. Thanks so much for all those who helped make it a fantastic day.

Check out the slide show on our Slide Show page.

Potluck

June 29th, 2009 by Julie

20090628 potluck

The occasional showers of the day did not dampen the fun at the campground potluck. We had a wonderful meal together (food is always better when it’s hot off the grill and outside) and a great time around the campfire. There is nothing like the savory smell of a campfire. Thank you to the Timberline Camping Families for hosting the day. We had a blast! Check out a slideshow of a few of the picture on our Slide Show page.

Mall of America

June 29th, 2009 by Julie

Mall of America

Recently the youth group ladies had a Mall of America trip scheduled that needed rescheduling due to conflicts. The new date for this event is set for this Thursday. We will meet at the church office at 10:00 am and return at 3:00 pm. Although this event was scheduled for the youth group ladies, our gentlemen have asked to join us, to which we have graciously said, yes! All youth are cordially invited.
