Baptism at Journey North Church

June 10th, 2016 by WebPastor

At Journey North Church we believe that Christ followers should be baptized the same way Jesus was. We are commanded in the Great Commission to go and make disciples… baptizing them. We take that seriously. We don’t believe that baptism saves you. People are saved by grace through faith, not of any works (Ephesians 2:8-9), based solely on what Jesus did by coming, living, dying on the cross for our sins, and rising again for us. But baptism demonstrates that relationship in an outward way. It also demonstrates our identification with and relationship to our church family.

Weather permitting, Journey North Church is having a baptism service at the Pine City Beach on Sunday, July 31, at 10:30. If you have made a commitment to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and want to follow Him in believer’s baptism, please let us know… put it on a communication card, call us, email us, message us on Facebook, DM us on Twitter… you can even come talk to us 🙂 Just let us know so we can answer questions you may have and give you some instructions for that day. On that day, after a time of worship through music and sharing from God’s Word, we will introduce those desiring to be baptized. We will, just like Jesus did, go down into the water, be baptized by immersion as a picture of Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection, and come up out of the water and celebrate together. It’s always a very special celebration. Join us!

The baptism will be followed by a potluck lunch. In the event the weather is bad and we have to cancel, we will have our regular 2 services at 9 and 10:30 at 840 Main Street South.

Here’s a map to the Pine City Beach if you need it:

Memorial Day

May 30th, 2016 by WebPastor

Today is the day we in the United States remember our fallen heroes. We remember those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice defending our freedom. As you celebrate today and spend time with family and friends (or whatever you may be doing today), please don’t forget to stop and take the time to remember and honor those who have given their lives in defense of our freedom.

“There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
John 15:13 (NLT)

ATTENTION… Both CLASS 101 and 201 scheduled for this Sunday have been postponed due to scheduling issues. Information on the next CLASSes will be available later. Again… NO CLASSes this Sunday, May 22. Enjoy the (hopefully) beautiful day!

We have scheduled the next CLASS 101 along with a CLASS 201 (for those who have completed CLASS 101, made the commitment, and become members). Both are on Sunday, May 22, 1-5 pm. Here’s a brief rundown:

Discovering Life at Journey North Church
This class is the basic introduction to our church family. Since we have people from many different backgrounds with a variety of different church experiences, this class was designed to clearly explain who and what our church is all about. It is required for people who desire to become a member, but it’s also a great way to have most of your questions answered about Journey North Church. And on the off chance we don’t cover your question, we’ll do our best to get the answer for you!

Discovering Spiritual Maturity
This CLASS is for those who have already taken CLASS 101, made the commitment (turned in your written testimony, signed Statement of Faith and Membership Covenant, and met with the Elders), and have become members. The main reason is because it’s all about commitment. To take this next step of commitment, you need to have made the first step of commitment. One step at a time! It focuses on the basic habits every Christian needs to grow to spiritual maturity. We’re here to help people find True North on this journey called life… and to help each other after we have found True North to experience life together and engage, and to be heading towards spiritual maturity. If you’ve completed the first step (see beginning of paragraph) and you’re ready to take the next step, this is the class for you.

Both CLASSes are four hour classes and we provide sufficient breaks and snacks to keep you going!

If you’re planning on attending, please sign up on Sunday or email us so that we have an accurate number for materials, seating and snacks! Remember that there is no childcare provided so if that’s a need you have, we’re asking you to make arrangements with a sitter or another family or something. And maybe you’re called to help by volunteering to sit for the kids of someone God lays on your heart (at your home or theirs).

I hope to see you there. Please be praying about this… I really believe it’s a huge step in the life of the Journey North Church family. You can sign up at the Welcome Desk.

Great Easter

April 2nd, 2016 by WebPastor

(Click the picture above to see a bigger view of it)

We had an amazing time with a record crowd celebrating the resurrection of Jesus on Easter. Just wanted to share a picture of one of our little worshipers in the early service.

There were a number of people who made first time decisions to follow Jesus! Praise the Lord!! And many people made decisions to recommit themselves to follow Jesus! So exciting! As we continue with a new series that follows on the heals of our Easter message, we’re going to let God write our story! Join us for all 4 messages in the new series: My Story: Living the story you want to tell.

Easter at Journey North Church is a big deal! The resurrection of Jesus Christ changed the world forever! Because of that event, history was split. Every time you write a date, you’re using the Resurrection of Jesus Christ as the focal point.

We have three opportunities for you to join us this Easter…
7:30am, 9:00am, or 10:30am this Sunday!

You don’t want to miss the start of our new series about the story of your life… My Story. Join us for some help in the rough chapters of your story!

And for the Journey North family, remember, it’s all hands on deck! Check with a ministry lead person for ways you can help out. Flexibility is key! God is going to do great things this Easter… I can’t wait!! See you there!

March 19th, 2016 by WebPastor

At Journey North Church, in more ways than one, walls come down! Brad Turgeon spent a day taking one down in our South Building as we begin the remodel phase. Thanks so much for your hard work Brad! It’s opening up space to grow and there’s already excitement building!

Kerry and Eric are doing an amazing job on the Foyer entrance and exterior. It’s a work in progress (like all of us), but it already looks SO much better! A much better impression for our Easter crowd. Thanks for the great work guys!
